Notes on Belize

Belize is the only English-speaking country in Central America, with favorable tax laws, a stable government, and the world's second-largest barrier reef. This page is buyer reading. Point Realtor is a licensed Florida brokerage, and no listings are published on this site.

Why Belize?

• English-speaking, with contracts written in English
• Qualified Retired Persons program for eligible applicants 40 and older. Incentives are set by the Belize Tourism Board. Confirm the current list before you rely on them. See the buying guide.
• Direct flights from major US cities (Houston, Miami, Dallas, Denver) into the mainland airport, then a domestic flight or water taxi to San Pedro
• Do not assume a US-style capital-gains tax, and do not assume a sale is untaxed. The buying guide says what we could confirm.
• The Belize Barrier Reef, which UNESCO describes as the second-largest reef system in the world
• San Pedro and Ambergris Caye, plus the family projects below
